Child Care / Dependent Care Benefits

"I am divorced and now a single parent - can I claim a child care credit?"

If you have "custody" of the qualifying child, you work for a living, and you have qualified expenditures, you are eligible for the credit.

Please understand that only one taxpayer can have custody of a given child. With that in mind either the mother or the father and not both can claim a child care credit for one child.
