Individual Retirement Accounts – IRAs

“Where should I invest my IRA?”

This is a great question. If we knew the best answer to this question we would be rich and retired. Choices for all kinds of IRAs range from the ultra conservative selection of a money market mutual fund or bank CD to individual stocks. In between those choices lie diversified common stock mutual funds which are often a wise choice for most people. We always stress that as these are long term investments that can generally be invested passively (without much change or moving around), that clients keep a careful eye towards the expenses financial institutions charge for management etc. Many people like to invest with low cost index funds such as those offered by Vanguard.
