Social Security Benefits

"I received some notice from social security about what I have earned and paid in over the years and what my future benefit may be. Should I do anything with this?"

We suggest that you look this over to make sure that there is not a missing year of earnings. It could happen that a year’s worth of earnings did not get to social security and your benefit would not reflect such earnings and contributions. If you notice a missing year, the sooner you contact social security, the easier it is to resolve the discrepancy. I also like keeping these as evidence to take to social security when it is time to commence collecting benefits.
